Biowelder® S
What is the Biowelder® S?
The Biowelder® S is designed to support product development in cell and gene therapy (CGT) and comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements. It enables rapid, sterile welding of small PVC and TPE tubes in both non-classified environments and cleanrooms of classes B and C. This helps to keep operational costs low and supports a paperless GMP manufacturing process.
Launched in July 2024, the device is manufactured in Schachen near Lucerne, rigorously tested to meet high quality standards, and delivered ready for sale to our partners.
For product development, marketing and sales, we maintain a long-standing collaboration with the German biopharma and laboratory supplier Sartorius.
Where is the Biowelder® S used?
The Biowelder® S is especially utilized in advanced therapies, including cell and gene therapy (CGT) and other complex biopharmaceutical processes. It enables rapid and sterile welding of PVC and TPE tubes.

How does the Biowelder® S work?
Similar to the Biowelder® TC, the Biowelder® S uses mirror welding technology to create tube connections. However, the Biowelder® S stands out due to its significantly higher level of automation. The blades are housed in a so-called Blade Box Cartridge.

During each welding process, a blade is automatically retrieved from the box and used for the welding. After welding, the used blade is automatically ejected into a waste drawer, allowing the user to dispose of it without contact. In addition to connecting the tubes, the machine also ensures that the cut tube ends are automatically sealed.
