Float switches for level detection
What makes a Reed float switch stand out from the competition?
Using a float switch – also known as level switches – specific fluid levels can be reliably monitored and controlled. The sensors are based on the tried-and-tested Reed technology and are characterised by their durability.
Float switches can typically be found in overflow and empty status signalling, alarm circuits and pump control systems, and are suitable for use in liquid media. Float switches are also available in an EX design for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Product overview
How does a float switch work?
Our float switches are based on the tried-and-tested Reed contact-magnet principle, which guarantees reliable and long-lasting functionality. The only moveable component within the sensor is the float itself, which rises and falls together with the level of the medium. If the fluid reaches a defined limit level, the magnet within the float activates the Reed contact inside the sliding tube. The contact switching tongue closes and allows the current to flow.
