Biowelder® TC
What is the Biowelder® TC?
In biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, thermoplastic hoses often have to be connected with one another. In the past, this was frequently carried out by means of a manual process that came with a great deal of risk. In 1999, we launched our first device on the market that automated this difficult process and made it more secure and reliable.
The fourth generation of this proprietary development is now available on the market. The device is produced in Schachen, near Lucerne, tested according to high quality requirements and delivered to our partners ready to be sold.
For product development, marketing and sales, we maintain a long-standing collaboration with the German biopharma and laboratory supplier Sartorius.
Where is the Biowelder® TC used?
The Biowelder® TC is suitable for connecting thermoplastic hoses that are used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Dry and fluid-filled hoses can thus be easily connected.

Functionality of the Biowelder® TC
Once the hose bracket, the blade and the hoses are positioned in the Biowelder® TC, the welding process is carried out automatically . Firstly, the blade is heated for depyrogenation purposes and is then kept at the welding temperature. An infra-red sensor monitors and controls the blade temperature throughout the entire welding process. Once the welding temperature has been reached, the hoses are cut and then welded together with one another.
